Full Description:
High Wray Basecamp, Hawkshead, Cumbria
It’s an incredibly exciting time here at National Trust, as we’re working hard to make every visitor’s experience a memorable one. We’re now looking for someone to help with the day-to-day running of High Wray Basecamp - who will work towards our vision of increased access and involvement within the Lake District through volunteering.
A true helping hand for the Basecamp team, you’ll support our conservation volunteer programme within the Fix and Fells project. As you supervise volunteers on a wide range of conservation tasks, you’ll do all you can to get the community involved. This may be through developing our learning programme, overseeing group visits or raising awareness of the Fix and Fells project. Keeping a close eye on other engagement projects and North West partners, you’ll boost funding and manage our Community Access budget.
You understand conservation management like no other, and are experienced in general estate tasks (such as dry stone walling, upland footpath repair and woodland management). With knowledge of the current issues affecting the countryside, you’ve worked within communities as either an employee or a volunteer. With first-class IT and communication skills, you work as well on your own as you do in a team. We’d also like you to have a full driving licence, and ideally a First Aid certificate and some JMA training.
Hours: Part time (job share) – 15 hours per week, fixed term 2.5 year contract
